Abstract
This paper reviews the impact of cement industry towards housing rental values and to assess solutions to the problem. The increasing search of raw materials for industries, cement manufacturing causes increase in quantity of the non-renewable resources such as limestone and marble. The presence of the cement factory in Okpella has brought tremendous achievement in terms of migration and influx of people. This attracted housing developers to construct estates. However, the more people settle in the cement production area, the more rental values increases. The method adopted in this study is quantitative analysis, whereby the result obtained will be compared over time. The result indicates that the presence of cement industry is a great achievement which has impacts both on people and environment. This includes social, economic and cultural values. About 60% of the Okpella inhabitants have benefited in housing rental values and this promote growth and development in the study area.
